The Community Gyms Coalition (CGC) is a first-of-its kind collaboration of fitness companies representing more than 15,000 community gyms and fitness facilities across the U.S. that serve over 25 million members and impact tens of millions more across the country. Nutrition and physical activity are intimately and inseparably connected and, when combined, can improve public health. Data shows that during the COVID pandemic, physical activity diminished and negative public health outcomes rose. America’s community gyms are committed to addressing this troubling outcome by integrating nutrition and health and supporting improved physical activity for all.

The mental and physical health of all Americans has suffered in the wake of the pandemic. Recognizing that exercise and physical activity improve mental and physical health, 3.5 million teenagers exercised for free at a Planet Fitness Club over the past three months as part of their High School Summer Pass initiative. This number and the feedback from parents across the country demonstrate the much-needed mental and physical support that 3.5 million teenagers and many more adults need following the pandemic. The CGC is committed to supporting millions more to address our nation’s mental health crisis and chronic disease epidemic.
Host a 20-minute satellite event workout during a break in the program on September 28 with some of the country’s top trainers for virtual participants to take part in to encourage physical activity during the conference;
Develop signage and online resources for community gyms to provide to their members and community containing access to data on improving nutrition and supporting physical activity for all; and

Encourage community gyms to offer and administer 1 million free 30-minute consultations by 2025 to improve participants’ body intelligence and provide a baseline understanding of their health and fitness;
Encourage community gyms to partner with local leaders to host free sessions on improving physical activity within their communities accessible to all.
Offer free access to apps empowering Americans to track their nutrition and physical activity and make healthier choices;
Train 10,000 new nutrition coaches by 2025, and 20,000 by 2030, to emphasize the connection between proper nutrition, physical activity and overall health, and provide appropriate support to our communities.
